Mark Selby swept to Crucible glory and gave Leicester a second trophy of the night to toast as he fended off Ding Junhui in the World Championship final. Wholesale Custom Baseball Jerseys . As parties erupted in the following Leicester Citys Premier League triumph, another was about to begin 70 miles up the M1 as Foxes fan Selby powered to an 18-14 triumph.Selby pointed at smiling wife Vikki in the crowd as he crossed the winning line, joy and satisfaction detailed across his face. She and daughter Sofia joined him amid ticker-tape trophy celebrations. Its fantastic. Im just really happy to win, Selby said. I saved my best performance for the final. The 6-0 lead that Selby established on Sunday was whittled down by determined Ding, who was determined not to squander his big chance, but ultimately he could not overhaul the world No 1.Chinas first finalist in snookers premier tournament clawed his way back to 10-9 and 11-10 during Monday afternoon, but going level proved beyond him each time.Selby led from start to finish and was a worthy champion, collecting snookers biggest ever prize cheque of £330,000 to go with the silverware. Selby lifts the trophy after beating Ding Junhui to win the World Snooker Championship It was Ronnie OSullivan that Selby saw off in 2014, when he staged a terrific second-day fightback to scoop the title. This time Selby was in charge and had to deal with that very different pressure, beginning the day 10-7 in front of a player whose dip in form over the past year meant he had to negotiate the qualifying rounds.Ding had tens of millions watching him on television in Asia, where he is just as revered as OSullivan. And at times during the contest, he rolled back time to when he was the worlds No 1, making three century breaks - 103 each time.Selby took a month off the tour for personal reasons before heading to Sheffield, and at times that absence showed in his game, but come the final he had brushed off the rust. After Dings early nibble at his lead on Monday, Selby began to fire. He had breaks of 126, 52, 68 and 55 in pulling 14-11 clear heading into the evening. It was clear how much it mattered to him, too. He swished his cue in anger at one point after missing a testing pink. And the contest looked to be in its final throes once Selby took the opening two frames on the resumption. Not so. Runs of 73, 70 and the third 103 of the match revived Dings prospects. This great tournament has never had an Asian champion, with Irelands Ken Doherty, Australias Neil Robertson and Canadian Cliff Thorburn the only overseas title winners of the 1977-onward Crucible era.Despite living in the Steel City for the last 10 years, the Crucible is a venue for which Ding has shown little love in the past.He was longing to have his name engraved on the trophy this time though, but Selby was not going to yield. He battled through one scrappy frame with an iron will and then clinched victory rather more stylishly with a 74 break. Its the pinnacle of sports and youre representing your country and then when its finished you drop down to such a low. Its like whats next? I have matured. It is four years later and I am still the same crazy kid deep down inside. She made a splash at the London Games, becoming the first woman to dunk in the Olympics. She has bigger goals in Rio.Its a pretty cool thing to have done, but there are other goals I want to accomplish, Cambage said. Winning a gold medal for Australia would be unbelievable.Cambage said when the Olympics end shell take some time off to relax. Unfortunately for WNBA fans she said she wouldnt potentially rejoin the league until maybe 2019.I really like Dallas, I talked to coach Fred Williams when we were training there, she said. I want to relax next year and then in 2018 we have the Commonwealth Games and the world championship again.                                       When Jared Ward was about halfway through the Olympic marathon in Rio, doubts started to creep into his head. Curry 6 Cheap . He didnt feel good. Part of the pack he was in started to break away. Could he actually finish? Ward, a member of the U.S. Olympic team, was running only his fifth marathon ever and needed to find some way to get through the rest of the race. Not only did the 28-year-old Ward find a way to get through the mental challenges and finish, but he finished sixth overall -- in the Olympics -- in his fifth race. There were two keys for Ward to break through the doubt that could have cost him Olympic glory. The first was to think about the race in chunks -- getting through the next mile instead of trying to get through the entire race. The second was analytics. The chunking of a task is a well-known management strategy -- breaking huge projects down into small tasks that will be mentally less taxing and therefore more manageable. The use of analytics, though, particularly in the context of the Olympic marathon, is more novel.Given Wards rise, clearly he is not your typical runner. Dually inspired by his high school coaches and math teachers, Ward attended Brigham Young University to run cross country and study statistics. What Ward soon found out is that the BYU statistics department -- led by Dr. Gilbert Fellingham and Dr. Shane Reese -- has one of the top sports statistics groups in the country. BYU statistics alumni have worked for teams in the NFL and NBA as well as the U.S. Olympic Committee, and ESPNs sports analytics team.Fellingham took interest in Ward as both a student and an athlete, and began to encourage Ward to take a more analytical approach to his running. Wards BYU cross country coach, Ed Eyestone, also embraced this approach -- particularly when Ward used up his eligibility in cross country and turned his attention to marathons. Eyestone, as it happened, was a two-time U.S. Olympic marathoner who competed in 1988 (Seoul) and 1992 (Barcelona). At the urging of these mentors, Ward (who would become a BYU statistics professor himself) took both a macro and micro approach to the analytics of marathons. On the macro level, he looked at the research on marathon performance, and that data provided two important insights: (1) elite marathoners run at a fairly constant pace -- they dont speed up or slow down throughout the race; and (2) they use the terrain to their advantage -- speeding up on a downhill and slowing down on an uphill. These concepts formed the basis of a strategy to estimate a constant pace that Ward would try to match throughout the race, diverging only when the terrain dictated it.If you can get to mile 20 feeling like you are [at] 15, you have an easier time getting to the end, Ward said.On the micro level, Ward looked at data on his own performance to estimate what that pace should be. He used every one of his own workouts and races as a data point, and then used that data to look at the factors that positively and negatively impacted his performance. Finally, using several drills and workouts designed by Eyestone, as well as the terrain and weather conditions in Rio, he estimated the proper pace for his race that would get him a top-10 finish. This empirical work gave him confidence when he put his toe on the line in Rio, he could not only finish but also finish strong. ?The data says Im ready to run 2:10, said Ward. I believe that and can step on the line at the Olympic Games confident that I can hit the top 10.He also leaned on the analysis at that midway point of the race, when the aforementioned self-doubt crept in. He knew the research and analysis, trusting that if he kept to the plan -- even though some runners were breaking away from him -- he would have a top-10 finish. Armed with solid analytics and mental strength to push through his aching body, Ward crossed the finish line in sixth place with a personal-best time of 2:11:30.Wards story is about far more than analytics, but in a very real way, the analytics powered his Olympic performance. You can expect to hear from Ward -- and teammate Galen Rupp, who won the bronze medal in Rio, participating in just his second career marathon -- in the runup to the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.Ward has certainly leaped into full world-class status, Eyestone told the Salt Lake Tribune. Woodson said during a radio interview Thursday that the Knicks Carmelo Anthony doesnt get the same calls as other superstars. Josh Gordon showed his 2013 form late in the first half of the Cleveland Browns 30-13 preseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday night.Gordon came back for a ball that was slightly underthrown and, with the help of a disguised push of cornerback Brent Grimes, came down with a 43-yard touchdown catch. It feels great, Gordon said. I feel really good to be out there with my teammates, my brothers. It was uplifting.Robert Griffin III laughed and showed a large smile when asked if it was fun to throw to Gordon. Its fun throwing to any of those guys when they make plays like that for you, Griffin said.Fridays game was Gordons first since Dec. 21, 2014, the penultimate game of the regular season. He was suspended for the season finale and then the entire 2015 season.Gordon was reinstated in late July by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell but missed the Browns first two preseason games after reporting with a quad injury. The receiver will serve a four-game suspension to begin the regular season. Its just good to see him out there making plays, Griffin said. Getting an opportunity to get back in the league, we look forward to him making the most of that.Gordons first catch Friday went for 44 yards on third-and-8 during the Browns first drive. He beat Grimes on that play as well, selling the cornerback on an out move and then heading upfield. Gordon might have scored had Griffin?hit him in stride, but the receiver had to adjust slightly for the ball. Curry 1 Shoes For Sale. The touchdown reception came with 1:53 left in the half, when Gordon ran a go route and Griffin threw deep down the right sideline. Gordon was able to come back for the ball and make the kind of catch that helped him lead the NFL in receiving yards in 2013.He made a tremendous play, coach Hue Jackson said. It was good just to get him back out there in the game and playing. He did some good things, and theres some things that well continue to improve on with him. But I thought it was a good start for him. After not playing in 27 of the past 32 regular-season games, Gordons two catches for 87 yards and one touchdown provide the Browns with a sign that he might not have much rust as he attempts to come back.Griffin had little success when he wasnt throwing deep to Gordon. Aside from the two completions to Gordon, Griffin went 6-for-12 for 32 yards. He fumbled once, was sacked five times and did not convert five third downs in a row. His rating was buoyed by the touchdown, as he played the first half and finished with a 108.9 rating.Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. ' ' '
ST. Jordan Retro 11 For Sale Cheap . LOUIS -- Chris Carpenter is set to make his first minor league rehabilitation start next week, an outing that once seemed very much in doubt for the former St. Louis ace. Carpenter pitched a three-inning simulated game on Wednesday. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said Carpenter will start Monday for Double-A Springfield. "My stuff is good," Carpenter said. "Again, the timing and stuff to make consistent quality pitches down in the strike zone still has a little ways to go. But my stuff was there and I felt good and thats key so I was excited about it." Matheny said Carpenter will be limited to a pitch count in the "60s-range" in his first live action since making three starts during the playoffs last year. Nerve issues have sidelined the 38-year-old right-hander since before the start of spring training this season, and it appeared his career might be in jeopardy. The former NL Cy Young winner has made mostly steady progress during the past two months in his comeback attempt. On Wednesday, he faced teammates Shane Robinson, Pete Kozma and Rob Johnson in the simulated game. Matheny said unless Carpenter shows negative effects from his latest effort, theres no reason not to start the clock on his rehab. "He proved I think everything we needed him to prove," Matheny said. Carpenter gets one month before a decision must be made about if hell play in the majors this season. He said that hasnt truly crossed his mind. "I have to go down there and get better and prove that I can stay healthy and prove Im good enough to get in and take one of these guys spots," Carpenter said. "Just because of what Ive done in the past doesnt mean I get an opportunity to step in and kick someone out of here when were doing so well." The Cardinals lead the NL Central. He won Game 7 of the 2011 World Series against Texas. "Right now, Im preparing as a starter," Carpenter said. "Thats not up to me, thats up to them. Im going to prepare to show them I can pitch and then let them make that decision, if, where and when Im needed." Air Jordan 1 Wholesale .
